Fern “Cookie” Juanita Poor Thunder was born on April 8, 1947 in Red Shirt Table, SD to Isadore Poor Thunder and Tillie Poor Thunder (DuBray). Fern made her journey to the Spirit World on July 21, 2024 at the Monument Health Home Plus Hospice in Rapid City, SD.
Fern is survived by her children, Melonie Poor Thunder, Donna Wilkins, John Wilkins III, Rochelle Poor Thunder, Pauline Two Bulls, Stephanie Two Bulls, Beverly Two Bulls, John Harlen Shangreaux, and Rosey Shangreau; hunka son, Kenneth Morse; siblings, Hermus Poor Thunder, Mary “Moose” Poor Thunder, Craig “Skala” Poor Thunder, Ron Two Bulls, Muffet Fly, JD Fly, Russell Fly, Sandy Fly, Frankie James Two Bulls, and Wanda Cottier; grandchildren, David Wilkins, Ed Wilkins, Davina Wilkins, Alexis Jensen, and Michael Morse; and great grandchildren, TaAliyah Standing Bear, Michael Standing Bear, Aiyana Wilkins, Matthew Wilkins, James Wilkins, Edward Wilkins, Byron Wilkins, Jazzlynn Morse, Zach Morse, Hailey Morse Madison Morse, and Lathia Jensen.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Isadore Poor Thunder and Tillie Poor Thunder (DuBray); daughters, Lathia Poor Thunder and DJ Shangreaux; son, Harlen Shangreaux; siblings, Donald “Duck” Two Bulls, Violet “Babe” Poor Thunder, Joseph “Buzzy” Poor Thunder, Virginia “Sweet Pea” Poor Thunder, Isadore “Junebug” Poor Thunder, Dale Lee Poor Thunder, Shirley Poor Thuner, and Phillip Fly; first husband, John Wilkins, Jr.; second husband, John Shangreaux; and great granddaughter, MaAliyah Poor Thunder.
Pallbearers will be David Wilkins, Dion Tayle, Lucille Grass, Otto Fly, Lester Fly, James Dean Fly, Kenneth Morse, and Brett Fly. Alternate: Michael Morse.

A two night wake service for Fern Poor Thunder starts at 2 on Thursday August 1, at the Red Shirt Table School Gym with evening services starting at 7.
Funeral Service will be at 11 on Saturday August 3 at the Red Shirt Table School Gym with James McCurdy officiating. Lester Fly will be traditional Lakota Singer.
Burial is at the Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery in Red Shirt Table, SD.
