The WarHorse Casino in Lincoln on Thursday became the first spot in Nebraska to legally bet on sports.
A bill in 2021 legalized sports betting in Nebraska, but required bets to be placed on site and the WarHorse is the first of the state’s new casinos at horse tracks to get in position to do that.
Owned by Ho-Chunk Inc, the development arm of the Winnebago Tribe, WarHorse Gaming LLC partnered with Kambi, a sports betting technology company, to install kiosks and a sports book window for convenient on-site betting.
Customers can also build out their wagers through the WarHorse app to make placing the bet at the casino faster
Ho-Chunk CEO Lance Morgan says they’re thrilled to be the first casino in Nebraska to offer sports betting with a wide variety of sports and events for customers to choose from.
There are limits to the sports betting allowed in Nebraska. The biggest is no betting on in-state college home games, but the College World Series currently underway in Omaha was fair game.Â
