At 10:14 Monday morning, a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on US 85 near mile marker 45.
A 2013 Toyota Tacoma was attempting to exit I-90 and enter US 85. After stopping, the driver of the Toyota entered US 85 in front of the 2023 Harley Davidson as it was approaching. The 2023 Harley Davidson struck the Toyota at the intersection.
The driver of the 2023 Harley Davidson received fatal injuries.
The driver of the Toyota was uninjured. The driver of the Harley Davidson was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the Toyota was wearing a seatbelt.
The number of crashes- both fatal and non fatal- have been noticeably lower than 2023 statistics.
Last year during the rally, there were 2 fatal accidents and 33 injury-related accidents. This year there has been only one fatality and just 18 injury accidents as of August 6th.
