For the first time in history two former Nebraska baseball players are scheduled to face each other on the mound Wednesday night as Spencer Schwellenbach pitches for the Atlanta Braves when they take on Cade Povich and the Baltimore Orioles.
Schwellenbach (0-2, 8.38 ERA) and Povich (0-1, 10.13 ERA) were teammates at Nebraska from 2020-2021 and made a regional final together in 2021, falling to Arkansas.
Both Schwellenbach and Povich made their MLB debuts earlier this season with Schwellenbach making his debut on May 29th vs Washington and Povich on June 6th at Toronto.
First pitch between the Orioles and Braves is scheduled for 4:35 p.m. mountain time.
