Francis Thomas Thunder Hawk, Jr. was born on November 23, 1967 in Pine Ridge, SD to Francis C. Thunder Hawk and Lois (Marshall) Thunder Hawk.

Francis made his journey to the Spirit World on August 4, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Francis is survived by his mother, Lois (Marshall) Thunder Hawk; children, Thomas James Mesteth, Adrian Thunder Hawk, Francis Thomas Thunder Hawk III, Wakinyan Thunder Hawk, Chanda Thunder Hawk, Joel Thunder Hawk, Ilijah Coleman, Ily Thunder Hawk, Tranna Thunder Hawk, Tokala Thunder Hawk, Tomia Thunder Hawk, and Hayden Thunder Hawk; significant other, Tracy Coleman; brothers, Brian Thunder Hawk, Joel Thunder Hawk, Simon Thunder Hawk, and Charlie Thunder Hawk; sisters, Rebecca Chief Eagle, Jennifer Thunder Hawk, Suzette Thunder Hawk, and Glenda Thunder Hawk; grandchildren, Ayden Thunder Hawk, Talicia Thunder Hawk, Payton Thunder Hawk, Izayah and Izaak Thunder Hawk, Jeremiah Thunder Hawk, Drew Thunder Hawk, Carly Mesteth, Catalya Mesteth, November Rain Mesteth, Aurora Mesteth, Lijah Coleman, Eli Martin, Avilynne Martin, Davion Walking Eagle, Laluna Ann Phillips, Baby Mateo Caleb, Chapa Hoksila Thunder Hawk, Carlos Thunder Hawk, Sasha Thunder Hawk; nieces and nephews, Sasha Thunder Hawk, Shanna Thunder Hawk, Hailey Cuny, Elton Three Stars, Jr., Eltina Three Stars, and Cheryl Three Stars; hunka children, Acacia Witt and Rosie Flores; and numerous other hunka children, godchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Francis was preceded in death by his father, Francis Charles Thunder Hawk; brother, Skyhawk Thunder Hawk; sister, Hannah J. Thunder Hawk; paternal grandparents, Fannie Thunder Hawk and Thomas Nakano; maternal grandparents, Martha and Joel Marshall; and grandparents, Charles and Susie (Jealous of Him) Thunder Hawk.

Pallbearers will be Josh White Mouse, Jimmy Little Bull, Phillip Rowland, Melvin Young Bear, Emmanuel Black Bear, Waylon Lamont, David Shicky, and Hoksila Mesteth.

Funeral Service for Francis Thomas Thunder Hawk, Jr. will be at 1 on Saturday August 17 at the Porcupine School Gym with Traditional Lakota Services by Larry Swalley.

Burial is at the Thunder Hawk Family Cemetery in Porcupine.
