One person has been arrested following a standoff in Fremont overnight Saturday into Sunday.
The Nebraska State Patrol said in a release that Fremont police officers responded to a domestic disturbance Saturday night in the 1200 block of North L Street. During the response, officers became aware that the suspect was possessing a firearm and that there were children and an adult female inside the residence. After multiple attempts to make contact with those inside the home were unsuccessful the suspect barricaded the door. Fremont police officers requested the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT Team to respond.
Nebraska State Patrol SWAT and Crisis Negotiators responded and took the suspect into custody at approximately 5:30am central time without incident. The adult female inside the home was transported to Fremont Medical Center with minor injuries, the children were found inside the home unharmed.
The suspect, identified as 28 year old Arturo Alvarez was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail where he faces charges of domestic assault, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony and obstructing a peace officer.
