Advance-sale vouchers for Chadron’s Fur Trade Days carnival are now on sale, just a couple days later than planned.
Fur Trade President Kevin Oleksy says the vouchers for wristbands allowing one night of unlimited rides for $25 arrived Wednesday.
Distribution of the vouchers was to begin on Monday, but Oleksy says an unexpected issue for the printer hired by Mac Carnivals and a power outage at the U-S Postal Service facility in North Platte delayed their arrival.
200 vouchers have been set aside at no cost for K-4 students in the Chadron Public Schools, with Oleksy crediting the generosity of carnival sponsor Homestead Bank.
He says Fur Trade Days has worked each year to make more free vouchers available and he’s pleased the number has reached 200.
They may be picked up in person at the Chadron Chamber of Commerce on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations available.
The remaining vouchers are available for $25 at the chamber or 5 Chadron financial institutions – Security First Bank, Chadron Federal Credit Union, Nebraska Bank, FNBO, and Platte Valley Bank,.
They’re also available on the Fur Trade Days online store – shop.furtradedays.com for either will-call or mail delivery
Similar unlimited ride wristbands will be available from the Mac Carnival ticket booth, but at the cost of $30.
Oleksy says Fur Trade Days will receive a share of the $30, but the entire $25 of the advance-sale vouchers – which sold out last year.
This year’s Fur Trade Days celebration runs Thurs-Sunday July 11-14 with the carnival running from 6-midnight the first 3 nights.
