G-R Girls Finish A Game Shy Of State

      For the third straight game, the Gordon-Rushville girls played Bridgeport and despite have a berth in next weeks state basketball tournament, the Mustangs couldn’t change the outcome from the first two.

Bridgeport beat Gordon-Rushville 67-49 in the C1-4 District final 67-49, which was actually the smallest margin of victory of the three games. The loss ends the year for Gordon-Rushville at 14-8.

The victory advances Bridgeport on to next state, where they will be joined by another C-1 school from the Panhandle – Sidney. The Raiders, seeded 2nd, played at home and stopped Platteview 50-41 in District 2.

    Two other Panhandle schools fell a game short of state as Bayard lost 51-39 to Niobrara-Verdigre in C2-4 and Leyton lost to Paxton 77-59 in D2-6. 

     The Class B girls district finals are Saturday with Scottsbluff the 7th seed and hosting Elkhorn at 1:00 in B-7.
