Funeral services for 27-year old Gabriella Gonzalez are Monday, Dec 11, 2023 at 11:00 at the IBEW Local 1250 Labor Union Hall located at 922 ½ E St Patrick St in Rapid City, SD, with The Rev Dave Adams officiating, traditional Lakota services by Gerard “Jack” Conroy, Wakinyan Forney, and Misun Bowker, and drum groups Thunder Valley and Battle Shield

Burial follows at 12:30 at the Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City

A one-night wake service starts Sunday at noon, also at the IBEW Local 1250 Labor Union Hall in Rapid City

Gabriella Antonia Gonzalez “Waste Win” (Good Woman), formerly of Winslow, AZ, and Rapid City, SD, was born March 1, 1996, to John Gonzalez and Charlotte Belone at Ft. Defiance Hospital, Ft Defiance, AZ.  She crossed into the spirit world Friday, Dec 1, 2023, at UC Health Greeley Hospital in Greeley, CO.

Gabby had a rich cultural background with Lakota, Mexican and Scottish on her father’s side, and Navajo on her mother’s. Her paternal grandparents were Nakai (Mexican) Dine and her maternal grandparents were Hashk’aan Hadzoi (Yucca Fruit).

Gabby spent her early years in North Rapid City, attending Knollwood Heights Elementary. Her family moved to Seba Dalkai, AZ, in 2005 when she was 9 years old. Gabby attended Tolani Lake Elementary, Indian Wells Elementary, Bonnie Brennan Elementary, Winslow Jr High, and Maricopa High until her brother Charles passed away from neuroendocrine cancer in 2012.

At the time of her passing, Gabby was making plans to go to culinary school to become a chef. She set goals and was excited for her future. She also had a love for music and taught herself to play the keyboard, following in her brother’s footsteps. Gabby’s father gave her the Lakota name Waste Win (Good Woman).

Gabby devoted her life to and is survived by her beloved dog Reina, whom she nursed back to health after being struck by a car, despite the veterinarian’s recommendation to put her down; her father John Gonzalez (Latonna Plenty Wolf) of Longmont, CO; her mother Charlotte Belone; brother JJ (Raichelle Curtis) of Flagstaff, AZ; Hunka brother Gerard “Jack” Conroy of Rapid City; niece Jaylee Amora Gonzalez of Smith Lake, NM; maternal grandparents Charley and Rose Belone of Seba Dalkai, AZ; uncles Mario Gonzalez of Black Hawk, SD, Leonard Gonzalez (Latoya) of Rapid City, Larry Gonzalez (Cynthia) of Porterville, CA, Edvis Belone of Rapid City, Randolph Belone and Marvin Belone both of Seba Dalkai; aunts Margarette Rasch, and Brenda McGlynn (Clarence) of Rapid City, Olivia Gonzalez of Colorado, Debra Wilford (Damon) of Maryland, Charlinda Belone, Rosita Belone, Carlyn Belone, and Carlotta Belone, all of Winslow, AZ, and Regina Belone of Dilkon, AZ; Hunka aunt Shelby Frame of Pierre, SD; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her brother Charles Gonzalez; paternal grandparents Gabriel and Geneva Gonzalez; great-grandfather Jack Riggs; maternal aunt Carmelita Bay; maternal uncle Riley Belone; and cousins Tammy Rasch, Michael Rasch, Randrick Belone, and Summer and Tera Singer.

Pallbearers will be Tom Rasch, Angel Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, Mario Wilson, Sean Webb, Edvis Belone, Randolph Belone, and Marvin Belone.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives. 

Gabby touched many lives during her brief life and was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was known most for her beautiful smile, her generosity and compassion for others, her sense of humor and her love for her dad.  She was Daddy’s girl.
