Gary C Lawrence was born March 12, 1950 in Hay Springs, NE to Clifford E and Donna (Westlake) Lawrence. He passed away Friday, Dec 22, 2023 with his wife and son at his side.
Gary graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1968 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Chadron State College in 1978.
On July 27, 1974, he married Becky L Russell at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, NE. The couple had one son, Brian.
Gary was a history buff. He taught 9th grade Social Studies in the Alliance Public Schools for 2 years after graduating from Chadron State, then changed careers and went to work as an electrician for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway for many years.
Gary was a Cub Scout Den and Pack Leader for Pack 207 for 3 years. Gary knew a lot about nature and enjoyed going for rides in western Nebraska to see the wildlife. He enjoyed fishing for panfish and time with his fishing buddies.
Gary was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan, no matter the sport! He was a loving husband and dad and will be dearly missed.
Gary is survived by his wife Becky Lawrence of Alliance; his son Brian Lawrence of Casper, WY; his mother Donna Lawrence of Hay Springs; his sister Judy (Lewis) McKenney of Hay Springs; and sister and brothers-in-law, Randy (Nancy) Scheidies and family of Minden and Dennis (Barb) Cramer and family of Broken Bow.
He was preceded in death by his father, his niece Shannon McKenney, and his great-niece Nikki Scheidies.
