A Celebration of Life for 70-year old Gayle “Linda” Roper will be held Monday, June 7, 2021 at 2:30 at the American Legion Hall in Hermosa, SD. Friends and family are invited to come share stories, fellowship and a meal.

Earlier in the day, the family, per her wishes, will scatter Linda’s ashes in one of her favorite spots, Blind Man Table, in celebration of her 71st birthday. 

Gayle Linda Sherman Roper was born on June 7, 1950 in Pine Ridge, SD to Gayle Two Bulls and Agnes Ollie Poor Thunder. Gayle made her journey to the Spirit World on May 22, 2021 at the St. Martin Assisted Living in Rapid City, SD.

Linda was adopted by Henry Kills A Hundred (Bud Sherman) at an early age.  She grew up on Bud’s ranch at Red Shirt Table. Linda loved to ride the many horses that her dad raised on the ranch. She is said to have been quite a cowgirl and hand.  

Linda worked several years for the Shannon County School system before moving to Rapid City where she worked as an aide for the Rapid City School district. 

Linda also worked as a cook for several years for various establishments. In her final years, she moved back to Hermosa and worked seasonally at the Custer State Park Game Lodge, which she enjoyed. 

She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending their many activities over the years. Linda loved to visit old friends and share stories. She also enjoyed doing beadwork.

Linda is survived by her children, Jerry (Jae) White of Timber Lake, SD, Tyler (Kesse) White of Kent, WA and Shavonn White of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Andy, CJ, Jessi, Josie, Lexy, Gavin, Sharif, Bello, Akicita, Kimimila, Olowan Fancy, Richard, Gabby, Monica, Viktoria, William, Steven Jr., Luis and Leticia; and great grandchildren, Josiah, Luciano, Janaya, and Braxtyn. 

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Bud Sherman and her birth parents

Pallbearers will be her children and grandchildren

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & family.
