Burial is at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Slim Buttes, SD
A one-night wake service starts Thurs, Jan 18, 2024 at 1:00 at Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with evening services at 7:00 followed by Military Rollcall.

George Afraid of Bear Jr “Minnecoujou Kipampi” was born on Sep 3, 1947 in Slim Buttes, SD to George Afraid of Bear Sr and Annie (Kills Crow) Afraid of Bear. George made his journey to the Spirit World on Jan 10, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
George is survived by his adopted daughter Amber Afraid of Bear; sisters Esther Afraid of Bear and Rose Afraid of Bear-Becenti; sister-in-law Cathleen Woonsock-Afraid of Bear; nephews Fred Afraid of Bear Jr, Brandon Afraid of Bear, Jon (Miwakan) Afraid of Bear, and Ernest Becenti Jr; nieces Annette, Amy, and Lisa Becenti; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents George Afraid of Bear Sr and Annie (Kills Crow) Afraid of Bear; siblings Emma, Ernest, LaRue, Fransis, Robert, Richard, Steven, Fred Sr, and George Jr Afraid of Bear Jr; nephews Byron Afraid of Bear, Marvin Afraid of Bear, Irving Afraid of Bear Sr, Fontanelle Afraid of Bear, and John Afraid of Bear; nieces Patricia Afraid of Bear and Carol Afraid of Bear; and grandson Robert Afraid of Bear.
Pallbearers will be Norman Afraid of Bear, Cranston Afraid of Bear, Robert Afraid of Bear, LaDanza Afraid of Bear, Jasmine Afraid of Bear, Dale Kills Enemy, Jared Reha, Earl Russell, and Aloysius Afraid of Bear,
