Memorial services for 87-year old Gerald Denton of Rushville, NE, are Sat, Oct 7, 2023 at 2:00 at the Extension Chapel in Whiteclay, NE.

The family invites friends and extended family to join them for lunch at the Chapel before the service at noon.

Visitation will be Friday, October 6, at 7:00 at Extension Community Chapel in Whiteclay

Gerald Max Denton was born on June 21st, 1936 to Glenn E Denton and Georgia (Hunter) in the house built by John W & Rachel Denton that Ron and Kim Denton currently reside in. He passed away at his home, also on the Denton homestead, and was welcomed into the Heavenly Father’s arms on September 29, 2023. 

Gerald attended Craven Creek School and graduated from Rushville High School in 1954. He worked for several different neighbors in the Whiteclay community after high school before marrying the love of his life, Alice (Sager), on August 3, 1958. 

They welcomed their first child, Ronald Gerald, in 1959 followed by Connie Lee in 1960 and Angel Lisa Tail in 1971. Gerald and Alice bought the original Fred Denton homestead in fall of 1963 and continued to work the family ranch until the day of Gerald’s passing. 

There have been 7 generations of Dentons continuing the ranch life on the homestead. 

Gerald had a strong faith in the Lord and was a lifetime member of the Extension Church in Whiteclay, NE. He served on the church board and as the treasurer for most of his adult life. Gerald never missed an opportunity to share the Lord with the people he encountered. 

Gerald was encouraging and inspirational to all who knew him. He loved and doted on all his grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to attend their events. 

Being a big kid himself, he was always up for a game of baseball, cards, horsie rides, sleepovers, and would play the piano on their request. He never turned down extra dessert. 

Gerald was on the school board Craven Creek District 79 and Sunshine Bible Academy in Miller, SD and was an active member of the National Wild Turkey Federation for Sheridan County. 

Gerald is survived by his wife of 65 years Alice Sager Denton; son Ronald (Kim) of Rushville; daughter Angel Denton Bauman of Pine Ridge, SD; son-in-law Mark Tyler of Chadron; son-in-law Bill Conner, andgGrandchildren Travis (Karena), Nickole (DJ) Lyon, ALanna Whiting, Chance (Megan), Lawrence (Jojo), Gatlin (Kelsie), Tyrel (Cassie), Slayde (Alexa) Denton, Tania Conner (Lucas) Isaman, Tiffany Conner (Billy) Mowery, Cody Conner, Tasha Conner (Josh) Fligge, Lucy Bauman, and Chris (Ivonne)Tyler. 

Gerald is also succeeded by great-grandchildren Stetson Youel, Wrangler (Jayde) Youel, Roper and Bailey Denton, Tyson and Chloe Lyon, Laeth, Meritt , Norah,and Ottalee Denton, Jolena, Raglin, and Calloway Denton, Lane Denton, Montogomery and Laramie Denton, Malaki Conner, Rylan and Jozlyn Isaman, Tyler Mowery Street, Levi and Conner Mowery, Brendan Conner, Dallas, Jaxon, and and Payton Fligge, and Treyton and Aiden Tyler, Amber Abold, Whitley, Wyatt, and Loreli Pena. 

Also surviving are great-great-grandchildren Jeremy, Mackenzzy, and Baylor Youel and Azariah Abold; brothers Glenn and Billy; sisters Marceil, Rita, Vesta, and Linda; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his father Glenn E Denton and mother Georgia Denton Lehman, stepfather Nick Lehman, stepmother Joyce Denton, brother Arthur Denton, sister Mildred Denton Frohman, daughter Connie Denton Conner Tyler, grandson-in-law Joe Whiting, and great-granddaughter Angel Lyon.
