Gerald Steven Lame was born on July 25, 1964 in Pine Ridge, SD to Verna Kindle-Lame and John Lame, Jr. Gerald made his journey to the Spirit World on August 15, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Gerald was named after his aunt, Geraldine. When he was young, he was raised with the help of his aunt, Geraldine (Little Spotted Horse) Dreamer-Chalmers when his parents died in Cleveland, Ohio. Later, he was sent back to his dad’s side of the family and grew up with his brother, Robert, and his cousins, Lori (Russell) Chalmers-Price, Linda (Ryan) Chalmers-Furman, Duane (Molette) Chalmers, and Sontos Sounding Sides-Chalmers. Gerald had no children, just lots of nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gerald is survived by his nieces, Maretta Afraid of Bear, Mary Ellen Janis, Amanda Simmons, Randi Morrison, Monica, Crystal, & Misty Lame, Lavelle Warrior, and Spring Rose Lame; nephews, Aloysius Afraid of Bear, Travis Pipe On Head, Vincent Good Voice Flute, Leonard Lame, Maza Hand, Dakota Eagle Bull, John Lame, Joseph Oris, Jr., Bodie Morrison, and Jonathan Morrison; aunt, Ethel Little Spotted Horse-Bates; and cousins, Lori (Russell) Price, Linda (Ryan) Furman, Duane (Molette) Chalmers, and Sontos Sounding Sides-Chalmers.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Verna Kindle-Lame and John Lame, Jr.; siblings, Darlene Lame-Afraid of Bear, Robert Lame, Adele Lame, and Aleta Morrison; aunts, Ollie Kindle, and Geraldine (Little Spotted Horse) Dreamer-Chalmers; uncle, Stanley Kindle; niece, Larene Pipe On Head; and grandmother, Fannie Little Spotted Horse-Lame.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Sounding Sides, Aloysius Afraid of Bear, Joseph Morrison, Bodie Morrison, Travis Pipe On Head, Brian Kindle, Isaac Lame, and Leroy Lame, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives.
Funeral Services for 60 year old Gerald “Chunku” Steven Lame of Rapid City, SD will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, Aug 30th at the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall in Oglala, SD.
Burial services will be at the Makasan Presbyterian Cemetery in Oglala.
Viewing services will be 10:00 AM- 1:00 PM, Friday, August 30, 2024 at the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall in Oglala.
