A family of four was displaced when a fire broke out in their trailer home in the Bellevue Addition of Gering Tuesday night.

Gering Fire Chief Nathan Flowers tells KNEB News fire crews were called to the scene at the corner of West and Canyon Drives around 10:45 p.m., finding heavy smoke and flames exiting a window with the occupants already outside.

Flowers says firefighters quickly knocked down the flames, limiting the fire to a bedroom and hallway, but the structure sustained fire and smoke damage, with a dollar estimate of damage pending.

The cause was believed to be electrical in nature inside the bedroom.

Firefighter Ministry tended to the immediate needs of the family, with Red Cross also called to assist.

Scottsbluff Fire provided an automatic mutual aid response, and Regional West EMS provided assistance to the tenants.
