Gloria Jean Goings was born on January 8, 1941 in Pine Ridge, SD to William Goings and Hazel (Janis) Goings. Gloria made her journey to the Spirit World on June 30, 2024 at the Pine Ridge I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Gloria is survived by her son, Jerry Goings; nieces & nephews, Mike Bordeaux, John Bordeaux, Jerry Bordeaux, Valerie Bordeaux, Linda Yellow Boy, Daryl Goings Sr., Marie, Curtis, and Mike Yellow Boy; special friend, Marty Grass; cousins from the Goings Family, Janis Family, and Bordeaux Family; grandchildren, Marjorie “MJ” Bordeaux, Andrea Bordeaux, Alexis Bordeaux, Adrianne Bordeaux, and Leelo Bordeaux; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, William Goings and Hazel (Janis) Goings; sister, Lavonne Bordeaux; nephew, Dennis Bordeaux; paternal grandparents, Julia Nelson-Goings and Frank C. Goings; and maternal grandparents, Hobert Janis and Ethel (Hobbs) Red Wing-Janis.
Pallbearers will be Corey Brown, Dennis Weston, Willy White, Daryl “Chipper” Goings; Michael Bordeaux, John Bordeaux, Phil Yellow Boy, and Jerry Bordeaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be All Former and Current Thorpe Basketball Players, Thorpe Family, Marvin Richards III, Louise White Butterfly, Venus Red Star-Rodriguez, Bonnie and Dave Two Two, Jess Brewer, Patrick Grass, Sr., Jeannie Good Crow, Patty Good Crow, and all friends and relatives.
A one night wake service will be held starting at 2 o’clock on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gymnasium in Pine Ridge with evening services at 7.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday July 13, 2024 at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gymnasium.
Burial is at the Holy Cross Episcopal Cemetery with traditional Lakota Services by Darla Black.
