Good Crowd For Chadron State Park Centennial

Loading

Chadron State Park Superintendent Gregg Galbraith says he’s very pleased with Saturday’s 102nd anniversary celebration with the threat of rain not keeping visitors from coming out to Nebraska’s oldest state park.

Galbraith, in his 9th year as top man at Chadron State Park, says it was just a great day in the Pine Ridge.

The weather forecast called for an 80% chance of showers and Galbraith admits the threat of rain was never far from his thoughts as Mother Nature continued to be nice until after most of the activities had wrapped up at 2:00.

All in all, Galbraith says things ran so well he expects the expanded version of Chadron State Park’s birthday party that began with its Centennial Celebration to continue.

Chadron City Transit offered shuttle service to the park from the Walmart parking lot, but we won’t have numbers until Monday.

That’s because Transit Supervisor Julie Lawrence is in North Platte where her granddaughter Arielle is competing in the Miss Nebraska’s Teen Pageant as Miss Chadron’s Teen.
