Sutherland edged Gordon-Rushville 173-171 at the WTC/SPVA/MAC/PAC wrestling meet at Bridgeport on Thursday. The Mustangs did claim the Western Trails Conference title over Mitchell.
Twelve Mustangs placed, carried by a gold from Aston Dayne at 113-lbs. Tucker Banister at 132-lbs, Kyler Vincent at 138-lbs, Jace Freeseman at 152-lbs and Lain Tausan at 220-lbs earned runner-up honors.
Four more Gordon-Rushville wrestlers came away with 3rd.
Hay Springs’ Anthony Running Hawk was 3rd at 285-lbs.
