This week, Governor Jim Pillen welcomed 600 leaders to Younes (U-nuss) Conference Center North in Kearney for โOne Nebraska: the Governorโs Summit on Ag and Economic Development,โ co-hosted by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) and the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA). This is the fourth consecutive year the Summit has had an agricultural focus.
โWhether itโs growing biomanufacturing or producing second-generation biofuels, Nebraska is ready to take the lead,โ said NDA Director Sherry Vinton. โOur products are premium quality, our producers have tech savvy thatโs second to none, and weโve developed the tools to tell our sustainability story.โ
This yearโs event included a focus on retaining graduates and attracting new residents to Nebraska. The Summit also included an emphasis on Nebraskaโs bioeconomy โ exploring how the state can feed the world and fuel the future, while contributing to a cleaner environment.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) headed sessions to provide insight on how the State of Nebraska can support local governments in the pursuit of federal discretionary funds for broadband, roads, and bridges.
The Summit concluded with a half-day workshop on Friday morning, dedicated to accelerating the growth of Nebraskaโs bioeconomy.
