New Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has appointed a former Communication and Public Policy Director of the state Department of Transportation as the agency’s new director.
Vicki Kramer is currently Chief of Staff for Infrastructure Markets and Strategy for Omaha-based Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering and is a major in the Nebraska Army National Guard. She succeeds John Selmer, who just retired after less than 2 years.
Pillen says Kramer “brings broad experience from both the private and public sector to keep moving our state’s transportation system into the 21st century.
He says Kramer will be “a transformative leader of the Department of Transportation and is the person we need to speed the completion of Nebraska’s vital four-lane highway system plan and deploy 21st century infrastructure across the state.”
Among Kramer’s other duties with NDOT from 2016-2020 was strategic advisor to then-director Kyle Schneweis, who says she’ll “be exceptional in her role as the next Director of the Nebraska Department of Transportation.”
Schneweis says Kramer “will continue to modernize the department and work to achieve its goals of increased safety, fiscal responsibility, project delivery, asset management, and workforce development.”
Kramer holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in Political Science and Journalism from Nebraska-Kearney and a Master of Public Administration from Nebraska-Omaha.
She’s also served over a decade as a Chemical and Human Resource officer in the National Guard.
