Greater Midwest Livestock Auctioneer Contest

Loading

Amongst the usual sights, smells, sounds and Stetsons of the Friday livestock auction at the Crawford Livestock Market, Crawford was also the host of the annual Greater Midwest Livestock Auctioneer Contest at the January 20th sale. Twenty-three livestock auctioneers from across the region participated and were judged as they rotated through at least 8 drafts of cattle to actual bidders during the course of the sale. Placing in the top ten was local auctioneer, Tristan Hunter.

Northwest Nebraska is livestock auction country and there is hardly a couple with Ariats and belt buckles who haven’t seen some fine auctioneering but there is also no denying that the competition at the Crawford barn last Friday was quite a treat. A tip of the hat to the folks at the Crawford Livestock Market for sponsoring and bringing to us a competition featuring such national class auctioneers.
