A Mass of Christian Burial for 71-year old Gregory Wagner will be Friday, Feb 23, 2024 at 1:00 at St Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City, SD with Father Ed Witt, SJ, officiating.

A meal will follow the mass at the Mother Butler Center in Rapid City.

Burial will be at a later date at St Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Hisle, SD.

Gregory Wagner was born on March 21, 1952 in Pine Ridge, SD, to Stella Louise Saves Life-Issacs.  Gregory made his journey to the Spirit World on Feb 15, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City.

Gregory was raised by his Unci Mabel Irene Randall until her passing. Upon her death, Gregory lived with various families and family members until he found his calling. 

Gregory worked many jobs throughout his life but was dedicated to working with horses. He was an avid trail ride wrangler. He worked at the Ben Sharp’s Ranch of Interior, Custer, Edgemont, Palmer’s Gulch, and other businesses requiring a skilled horseman. 

Gregory and his saddle put on many miles throughout his adult life, pursuing what his heart was drawn to, being a horseman.

Gregory was fortunate to have shared his life with and is survived his aunt Hanna Amiotte and his adopted son Dwight Pawnee Leggings, both of whom were always there for him until he was called to make his last journey; sisters Orla June Salaway of Oregon and Karen Kay Issacs of Texas; and many other relatives, and friends.

Gregory was preceded in death by his grandmothers Mabel Irene Randall, Stella Brown Eyes, Jessie Red Willow, and Margaret Shangreaux; mother Stella Louise Saves Life-Isaacs; brothers Ashton Salaway and Marvin Salaway Jr; sister Sandra Kay Salaway; uncles Earl Wayne Saves Life, Calvin and Ramsey Richards; aunties Lovey Rose Saves Life-Pittman and Cobina Rae Saves Life-Mayo; one nephew; and first-cousins Barry Amiotte, Doreen Amiotte-Allman, and Shanna Dubray.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Pawnee Leggings, Bob Amiotte, and Bill Amiotte.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Donna, Bob, Bill, and Dianne Amiotte & Families, Jim Meeks & Family, Martha Red Willow & Family, Beverly Red Willow & Family, Randall Family, Brown Eyes/Conroy Families, Little Killer/Shangreaux Families, Richards Family, Mitchell Dubray & Family, Lorie King, Myrtle Bettecher, Darlene Fire Thunder, and All Friends & Relatives.
