A Pine Ridge Reservation man has changed his plea and admits he killed a man on the reservation last fall.
29-year-old Trey New Holy of Porcupine had been charged in federal court with murder, but pled guilty Friday to a reduced count of voluntary manslaughter in the death of 35-year old Farron Respects Nothing.
According to the factual basis statement New Holy signed in his plea agreement, he was with a group of people in Porcupine late on the night of Sept 3rd when he got into an argument with Respects Nothing.
New Holy said the argument turned into a fight and he grabbed a 2×4, then hit Respects Nothing twice in the head with it. Respects Nothing died the next day of blood loss.
New Holy was one of 3 men initially listed as “persons of interest” in the case and was taken into custody the following evening. No date has been set for his sentencing.
