Gwendolyn Jo Eagle Elk was born on April 26, 1986 in Rosebud, SD to Monte Yellow Hair and Corrine Eagle Elk. Gwendolyn made her journey to the Spirit World on July 15, 2024 in Martin, SD.

Gwendolyn is survived by father, Monte Yellow Hair; daughter, Summer Dawn Yellow Hair; grandson, Ezekiel Wayne Yellow Hair; best friend and companion, Spencer Standing Bear; sisters, Contessa Pony (Mateo Lopez) of Omaha, NE, Tianna Yellow Hair (Henry Tallman) of Allen, SD, and Cristi Black Spotted Horse of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers, Travis and PJ Black Spotted Horse, Stetson Eagle Elk, and Jerry Has No Horse; nephews, Jace Pony, Ellis Lopez, Daniel, Cristian, and Tayden Yellow Hair; and nieces, Ariaella Tallman, Zamarya Lopez, and Bailey Bush.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Corrine Eagle Elk; uncles, Robin and Loren Whirlwind Horse, and Jim Yellow Hair; cousins, Joe Bush, Jr., Lyle Richard, Tylene One Horn; aunt, Patty Sitting Bear; and grandparents, Loretta and Arveal Whirlwind Horse and Victoria and Joe Eagle Elk.

Pallbearers are Marie Soloman, Summer Yellow Hair, Lakota Poor Bear, Vanessa Takes War Bonnet, Dallas Whirlwind Horse, Spencer Standing Bear, Mateo Lopez, and Percy Cottier.

A one night wake service for Gwendolyn Jo Eagle Elk will start at 1 on Sunday July 21, 2024 at the Allen CAP Office in Allen, SD with evening services at 7

Funeral Service is at 10 on Monday July 22, 2024 at the Allen CAP Office with John Poff officiating and traditional Lakota Services led by Jim Cross.

Burial is at the Native American Church Cemetery in Allen.
