Although concerns about the cold weather have canceled tonight’s Haunted Halloween and postponed tomorrow’s 3rd-annual Trick or Trails at Chadron State College, 3 indoor events are still on tap today.
The historic 130-year old Bethel Church southeast of Whitney, now a community center, is holding its 4th Harvest Gathering from 2-4:00.
Local fruits, vegetables, baked goods, condiments, and more will be shared and there will be free face painting for kids. Coffee, tea, and warm cider will be offered and there will be 2 fundraisers to the Bethel Church maintenance fund.
One is a raffle for a landscape painting by the late local artist Mary Louise Tejeda-Brown. The other is hand-tied fleece blankets made in member of Spencer Dierks, who grew up in Whitney and died at the young age of 19 in 2015
Whitney-Bethel area residents built the Bethel church in 1893 with James and Lizzie Wilson donating the land for both the church and the adjacent cemetery.
The Chadron High FFA is hosting its Haunted House at the high school from 7-10:00. The cost is $4 and the experience is recommended for those 8 and older.
Elvis impersonator Joseph Hall brings his tribute show to the Chadron First Congregational Church at 4th and Chadron Avenue at 7:00. Hall was a top 10 finished in NBC’s America’s Got Talent in 2008, Tickets are $20.
Trick or Trails, put on by the Northwest Nebraska Trails Association, has been postponed a week from tomorrow to next Sunday, Nov 5, from 4-6:00
