The Hay Springs Hawks are returning to the class D-6 semifinals after taking down the Silver Lake Mustangs 38-30. The Hawks will move on to take on the third seed Stuart on Friday in Hay Springs.
The Hawks and the Mustangs were tight throughout the game as the Hawks led 16-14 after the first 10 minutes. The difference in the game was the second quarter with the Hawks scoring a touchdown with Silver Lake being held scoreless. The teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter with Hay Springs leading 32-22 going into the fourth quarter. Hay Springs was able to hold on in the fourth quarter despite being outscored 38-30 as they move on to their second straight semi final appearance.
Hay Springs finished the game with 241 rushing yards, with Dylan Raymer having 169 of those and two touchdown runs. Quarterback Dylan Young was 13-18 with 199 yards and three touchdown passes as the Hawks finished with 440 yards of total offense.
They will now face Stuart who got past Arthur County by a 51-12 score. Kickoff time from Hay Springs will be at 2pm on Friday, November 15th. The other semifinal will feature defending state champion Sumner-Eddyville-Miller and Garden County.
