Hawks Triumph Over Warriors

The Sioux County Warriors traveled to Hay Springs Friday to take on the Hawks. Hay Springs earned a dominating victory on the gridiron, and while they won on the volleyball court, the Warriors made them work for the W.

Hay Springs edged the Sioux County Lady Warriors in three tight sets Friday.
The Hawks swept Sioux County 26-24, 26-24, 25-20.

Devyn Young and Julia Russell scored on double digit kills, 15 and 11, respectively. Reese Varvel assisted on 30 kills. Hay Springs also landed six ace serves and picked up 59 digs.

When it came time to head to the football field, the Hawks breezed by the Warriors in a 69-19 contest. Hay Springs led 24-12 after one quarter. The Hawks then went on to shut out the Warriors in the second period with a 22-0 showing. Each team tacked on a single touchdown in the third before Hay Springs added another 15-0 run in the final quarter.

Two Hay Springs players rushed for more than 100 yards in the contest, Dylan Raymer with 130 yards for one touchdown and Tripp Buettner with 105 for three scores. Dylan Young passed for 98 yards. The Hawks defense also caused the Warriors trouble, as they posted four sacks and six tackles for a loss.
