Hay Springs couldn’t convert a 4th and 3 at the Arthur County 24 with just under a minute left and lost to the Wolves 44-42 on Thursday night.
Trailing 36-28 late in the 3rd quarter Hay Springs’ Dylan Young found Gage Mintken from 54 yards out to knot the game going into the final quarter.
Hay Springs went on top on a Cutter Scott 15 yard run with just over three minutes left but missed the 2-pt kick. Arthur County would punch it in just a minute later and would convert the extra point to grab the lead back.
Hay Springs started their potential game winning drive at the 39 of the Wolves before falling short.
The Hawks will play at Garden County next Friday.
