For just the 2nd time in school history the Hay Springs football team will take aim at a state championship when they battle Sumner-Eddyville-Miller in the D6 title game tonight at 6:00 pm at Nebraska – Kearney’s Cope Stadium.

The Hawks also played for a championship in 2018, falling to WIlcox-Hildreth 52-40. This season they overcame an 0-3 start and have rattled off 8 straight wins since September 22nd.

S-E-M has a 21-1 record in the past two seasons, losing in the semifinals in 2022 and are the top seed in this year’s bracket. The Mustangs haven’t played for a championship since 1992 when they lost to Falls City Sacred Heart in D2.

We will have pregame coverage including a look back through the playoffs and an extended interview with Hay Springs head coach Trevor Jenkins starting at 5:15 pm on FM 107.7 KBPY and Chadrad.com.
