Help Celebrate As Chadron State Park Turns 102

Loading

Chadron State Park is celebrating its 102nd anniversary today with hopes that a forecast of rain won’t discourage people from coming out. KCSR will be on hand, broadcasting live from 10:00-4:00.

Chadron Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Gabby Michna says Chadron State Park is beautiful even when the weather isn’t, so she’s hoping to see a big crowd.

The first event is Run For The Hills at 8:00, with free paddle boat rides from 9-2:00. The Car-Bike-and-Truck Show also runs from 10:00-2:00, as do the Bounce House, Naturalist activities, and a variety of displays and demonstrations.

Food and craft vendors plus the Beer Garden run from 10-5:00, although the hours for individual vendors may vary. Cheap Date will perform from 11-:2:00.

Registration for the Canoe Regatta begins at 2:00 with racing at 2:30 and the Kids Treasure Dive at the Pool starts at 5:00.

Chadron City Transit is offering a shuttle service during most of the day. Transit Supervisor Julie Lawrence says the city is just trying to help out everyone.

Those riding the bus don’t need a park entry permit.

Chadron State Park will be running its own shuttle service within the park to make it easier to get to the various sites for the activities.
