The Chadron High boys and girls basketball teams scored points in buckets on Saturday night as the Cardinals took down Mitchell in a home doubleheader.

After a slow 1st quarter that saw the Chadron girls tied with Mitchell at 5, the Cardinals took off and outscored Mitchell 65-30 the rest of the way in a 70-35 victory.

Chadron got scoring contributions from 12 players, led by Taverra Sayaloune’s 15 and Demi Ferguson’s 12 point performances.

After a rough showing from the free throw line last Thursday, Chadron went 12/17 from the charity stripe and sank 8 three pointers.

The Chadron boys had two players drop 21 points as the Red Birds cruised past Mitchell 84-66.

Chadron trailed 18-17 after a quarter, but 17 first half points from Gage Wild and 16 first half points from Brady Daniels pushed the Cards ahead 44-31 at the break.

Xander Provance jumped in with 11 points in the 3rd quarter as Chadron led by as many as 26 in the 2nd half.

Daniels and Wild finished with 21 points a piece and Provance had 14.

The Cardinals hit 10 shots from deep and hit their highest point total since an 86-64 win over Hemingford on January 8th of 2019.

Chadron is back home on Tuesday against Hemingford.
