High-Speed Fatal Drunk Driving Crash Draws 32-Year Prison Term

Loading

A young Omaha man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison for a high-speed drunk driving accident last March that killed 2 women and an unborn child.

22-year old Zachary Paulison had faced up to 43-years after pleading No Contest in November to 3 counts of motor vehicle homicide. Paulison won’t be eligible for parole until he’s served 16 years and Nebraska’s good time rules will release him in 18-½ years.

Prosecutors said Paulison’s blood alcohol level was more than two times the legal limit and he was driving more than 100 mph on March 31, 2022, when his pickup slammed into a vehicle carrying two women from Gretna.

38-year-old Amanda Schook and 37-year-old Sara Zimmerman, who was 8 months pregnant, both died at the scene.
