Hobert Wayne Zimiga (Wawokiye) was born on February 6, 1952 in Pine Ridge, SD to Herman Zimiga and Emma Breast-Zimiga. Hobert made his journey to the Spirit World on November 17, 2024 at his home in Wanblee, SD.
Hobert attended the day school in Wanblee, SD and went to Pine Ridge for high school. He spent some time in Durango Colorado. He was a teacher’s aide and a police officer among other positions.
Hobert is survived by his wife, Georgia Rooks-Zimiga; sons, Shawn and Paul Zimiga and Kanisha Rooks; daughters, Lisa Grimes (Allen), Thedna Zimiga; adopted daughters, Jessica, Angelina, and Justina Zimiga; grandchildren, Kiana, Kaya, and Clayton Zimga, Taleah Bull Bear; brothers, Herman “Wes”, Robert, and Joseph Zimiga (Earline); sister, Lavon Zimiga; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; and his other wife, Earline Rooks & Family.
Hobert was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Breast-Zimiga; father, Herman Zimiga; brothers, William “Poncho”, and Timothy Zimiga; sisters, Elizabeth Pacina and Geraldine; and grandson, Mason Grimes.

Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 12:00 PM, Monday, November 25, 2024 at the TNT Center in Wanblee, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services: 9:00 AM, Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the TNT Center in Wanblee, SD.
