Homer Joseph Spotted Elk, Jr. was born on June 30, 1961, at home in Wanblee, SD to Homer Spotted Elk, Sr. and Martha Cutt-Spotted Elk. Homer made his journey to the Spirit World on February 1, 2025 at the Pine Ridge IHS Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Homer is survived by his sisters, Myrtle Spotted Elk and Cordelia Spotted Elk; children, Homer Spotted Elk III, Danielle Spotted Elk,, Philip Spotted Elk, Kaysha Spotted Elk, Albert Spotted Elk, Abraham Spotted Elk, Seth Between Lodges of Rapid City, SD and Joshua Spotted Elk of Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews, takojas and great takojas.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Red Eyes-Spotted Elk, Sr., and Martha Cutt-Spotted Elk; sister, Maxine Iron Rope; nieces, Susie Iron Rope, Dina Iron Rope; Valen Iron Rope, Martha Spotted Elk, Edith Poor Bear, Geraldine Swift Hawk, and Martha Spotted Elk-Long Wolf; nephews, Trudell Iron Rope, and Jerry Swift Hawk; aunts, Edith Poor Bear, Isabelle Sitting Up, and Ella Red Eyes; and cousins, Elmer Red Eyes, Raymond Red Eyes, Raymond Poor Bear, Walter Red Eyes, Isaac Cutt, Lyle Poor Bear, Lester Poor Bear, Ladonna Poor Bear, and Rosalyn Poor Bear.
Pallbearers will be Ernest Red Elk, Howard Red Elk, Shane Little Thunder, Justin Little Thunder, Al Poor Bear, and Weldon Poor Bear.
