The Fort Robinson Post Playhouse opens its next-to-last show of the season, the two-woman jukebox musical Honky Tonk Laundry.
Both tonight’s performance and Sunday’s matinee are virtual sellouts. Those hoping to get tickets for either need to call the box office at 1-888-665-1976. A limited number of tickets for tomorrow night are still available online at postplayhouse.com.
Post Playhouse Managing Director Ken Phillips says Honky Tonk Laundry tells the story of Lana Mae Hopkins, owner of the Wishy Washy Washateria, and Katie, her new employee, and how they bond over country hits from female singers from over 50 years.
The show features songs made famous in different eras by, among others, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, and Patsy Cline to Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, and Pam Tillis to Trisha Yearwood, Carrie Underwood, and Martina McBride.
The final show of the season, Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate, opens a week from tonight, putting all 5 into rotation and ushering in additional performances.
A week from tomorrow has the first Saturday matinee, followed the next week with matinees on Wednesdays and Fridays plus a 10:00 Saturday morning show.
