Hot Springs Ends Season, Nebraska State Volleyball Starts Today

The Hot Springs volleyball team saw their season come to an end on Tuesday night in the 8A regional tournament with a 5 set loss to St. Thomas More.

The Cavs took the first set 25-14 before the Bison responded with 25-23 and 25-19 wins in sets two and three. STM captured the 4th set 25-22 and then pulled away in the fifth 15-9.

The Cavaliers will play Rapid City Christian on Thursday for a spot in the SoDak 16.

Belle Fourche and Hill City used sweeps to get past Lead-Deadwood and Custer and will square in the other regional semifinal Thursday.

The Nebraska state volleyball tournament begins with Class C1 – A today at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.

One of the panhandles two representatives will take the court as 10:00 am this morning when Sidney, 6th seeded in Class B, takes on #3 Norris. The Red Raiders are 4-0 all time against Norris at the state tournament but haven’t picked up a win since 2012.

Should Sidney win they’d play the winner of 7 time defending champion Omaha Skutt and Waverly on Thursday in the semifinals.
