Loading

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a Hot Springs man was the person killed in an odd crash just before noon last Saturday involving 3 motorcycles on Hwy 16A about a mile west of Keystone.

The Patrol says 63-year old Keith Schroeder of Hot Springs was westbound when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the center line, and hit an eastbound bike ridden by 60-year old Ray Hatcher of Independence, Missouri.

Schroeder’s bike then hit an unoccupied motorcycle parked on the shoulder of the highway.

Scroeder was thrown from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene while Hatcher was taken by ambulance to a Rapid City hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Neither man was wearing a helmet.
