Nebraska Athletics:

Nebraska saw its season end with an 11-8 loss to Arizona State in an elimination game on Sunday afternoon at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.

The Huskers conclude the 2026 campaign with a 43-17 overall record and the 20th regional appearance in program history. The 43 wins are the most since the Big Red went 57-15 in 2005.

Nebraska totaled eight runs, 11 hits and two errors, while Arizona State (39-20) scored 11 runs on 13 hits and an error.

Jeter Worthley went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Dylan Carey added two hits and an RBI, and Joshua Overbeek went 2-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored. Mac Moyer doubled and drove in two, and Case Sanderson, Trey Fikes and Rhett Stokes recorded one hit each.

Gavin Blachowicz allowed five runs, one earned, across six hits in three innings of work. Cooper Katskee worked 2.1 innings in relief, surrendering three runs on three hits. Kevin Mannell tossed the final 2.2 innings and struck out a pair while not allowing a run.

Arizona State struck first in the bottom of the first inning with a one-out solo home run.

Overbeek evened the score at one with a leadoff homer to the berm in left-center field.

The Sun Devils responded with four unearned runs in the bottom of the third to grab a 5-1 lead. A throwing error on a double-play attempt with one out allowed one run to score, while a sacrifice fly to right field had ASU up 3-1. A two-run blast to left doubled the Sun Devils’ lead to 5-1 through three innings.

A solo homer in the fifth inning and five more runs in the sixth enlarged Arizona State’s lead to 11-1.

The Husker offense mounted a rally in the seventh, scoring five runs to cut the deficit in half. An infield single from Stokes with a throwing error scored a run, while Moyer laced a two-RBI double down the left field line to make it an 11-4 game. Je. Worthley followed with an RBI double of his own to left field, and Sanderson lifted a sacrifice fly to center field that sent an 11-6 game into the eighth.

Nebraska plated a pair of runs in the ninth and brought the go-ahead run to the plate but couldn’t complete the five-run comeback in the ninth. Moyer drew a walk and Je. Worthley singled to center, before Carey’s RBI single to left brought the Huskers within four.

Sanderson was plunked on a 2-2 pitch to load the bases with one out, and Buck lifted a sacrifice fly to right that allowed Je. Worthley to score and make it an 11-8 game. A lineout to right field with runners on the corners and two outs ended the Huskers’ comeback bid and the season.
