Nebraska stayed alive at the NCAA softball tournament Saturday by winning 2 elimination games and moving into the finals of the Stillwater Regional.

After losing their opener Friday to Wichita State, the Huskers eked out a 3-2 win in the morning over Maryland-Baltimore County with home run accounting for all the runs.

Nebraska went up 2-0 in the 3rd on a blast by Billie Andrews, UMBC tied it with a 2-run shot of their own in the 4th, then Ava Bredwell delivered the game winner in the 5th

That set up a rematch with Wichita State, who also beat the Huskers twice early in the season, but Nebraska got the win this time, rallying twice for a 9-8 win in 9 innings

The Huskers gave up 2 runs in the top of the 7th, then scored 3 times in the bottom of the inning to tie, then repeated the pattern in the 9th to win with a home run by Andrews’ sister Brooke, an RBI single, and Sydney Gray avoiding a tag at home to win the game

The Huskers now face 6th-seeded Oklahoma State, needing to win twice to advance to the Super Regionals. They meet Sunday at 2:00 MT.

Omaha, in the NCAA tournament for the first time, picked up its first victory by shutting out Prairie View 3-0 in an elimination game at the Baton Rouge Regional.

The celebration was short-lived as the Mavs were then eliminated by Louisiana 9-0. The Ragin’ Cajuns had also beaten them 5-0 in the first round.     Â
