Hyannis Wins Title Over Crawford

The Crawford Rams were runners-up at the Panhandle Conference basketball tournament, falling to conference newcomers Hyannis Saturday 45-33.

After a close opening quarter in which the Longhorns edged the Rams 5-4, the game went the way of the Longhorns. Hyannis used a 10-8 run in the second to take a 15-12 lead into the break but outscored the Rams 30-23 in the second half.

Morrill defeated Hay Springs in the consolation game. The Lions took an 18-12 lead in the first quarter, but the contest went into halftime tied at 23 as Hay Springs put together an 11-5 run in the second. Morrill held the Hawks to single digits after the break, outscoring them 34-18 for the 57-41 win and third place.

Hemingford finished in fifth and Sioux County in sixth place after the Bobcats defeated the Warriors in a close 41-37 showing in the final round.
