Hydrothermal Explosion at Yellowstone National Park

Loading

According to the Yellowstone National Park’s social media page, Biscuit Basin in Yellowstone experienced a localized hydrothermal explosion near Sapphire Pool shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. No injuries have been reported as of Tuesday afternoon.

As a result, Biscuit Basin will be temporarily closed and be reopened when park staff deems the area is safe.

Yellowstone National Park says today’s explosion does not reflect any changes in the volcanic system.

This is a developing story, and additional details will be shared as they are made available.
