Wyoming authorities have released the name of the man shot and killed by Cheyenne police in a shootout early Friday evening.  47-year-old Patrick Flores of Cheyenne was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 3 officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave as per department policy while the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation reviews the case.

Cheyenne Police spokeswoman Alex Farkas says officers were called to a home about 6:15 Friday on a report of a domestic disturbance with a man, later identified as Flores, shooting a gun and that his wife was screaming.

Farkas says the officers went to the front door and told the people inside to come out. They got no response, then heard a woman scream from inside.

The officers broke down the door, then encountered Flores – who continued firing his gun. They returned fire and fatally wounded him. Authorities have not said how many times Flores was hit.
