Funeral services for 96-year old Idonna Weyers of Hay Springs, NE, are Sat, August 6, 2022 at 10:30 at St Columbkille Catholic Church in Hay Springs.

Burial will be at Hay Springs Catholic Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Hay Springs Volunteer Fire Department and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Margaret Idonna Frandsen Weyers was born March 1, 1926 at Hay Springs, the daughter of Emil and Amelia (Millie) (Nielsen) Frandsen. She passed away July 2, 2022, in Bridgeport, NE. 

She grew up on the family farm south of Hay Springs and attended the local country school before graduating from Hay Springs High School in 1944 and attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. 

Idonna married Leo Arnold Weyers of Hay Springs on October 5, 1947, in Lincoln and they farmed on Mirage Flats south of Hay Springs for over 50 years. 

Idonna was a full-time wife, homemaker and mother of twelve children as well as being a foster parent for more than 88 children over a span of 22 years. 

When her children were growing up, Idonna raised a large garden and canned or froze produce for the winter. Idonna was an excellent cook and baker. 

Idonna enjoyed reading and was a member of Sacred Heart Altar Society and the local Homemakers Club for many years. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and taught CCD classes for several years. She also served on the Sheridan County Extension Board. 

Idonna is survived by her children and their spouses Lorinda Elson, Ruick (Rick) and Donna Weyers, Timothy (Tim) and Cheryl Weyers, Calvin and Jane Weyers, Bradley and Alynn Brodine, Leslie and Marcia Estrada, Paul and Laurie Weyers, Mark and Camilla (Cammy) Horn, Ronnie and Amy Snyder and Keith and Anna Taylor; sister-in law Mary Weyers and brother-in-law Louis Weyers. 

She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and spouses Anita (Elson) & Jason Blum, Jody Elson, Lisa Elson, Lee & Nicole Weyers Folger, Brent & Crystal Weyers, Scott & Erin Weyers, Matthew Weyers, Mark Weyers, Amanda (Weyers) & Alstar Macdonald, Alexis Weyers, Eva Weyers, Cole and Suzanne Brodine, Logan and Bostyn Brodine, Mason and Kathleen Brodine, Brian Estrada, Heather Weyers, Chelsea Weyers, Spencer Weyers, Isaac Horn, Megan Horn, Kayla Horn, Alanna Snyder, Kalon Snyder, Gracelyn Taylor and Jaron Taylor; and 33 great-grandchildren. 

Idonna was preceded in death by her husband Leo, daughter Catherine Marie, son Kendall Louis, sisters Emily Griffing and Pauline Frandsen, brothers Haskell and Berwyn Frandsen, brothers-in-law Orval Weyers and Dale Griffing, sisters-in-law Lorna (Weyers) Madsen and Leota Frandsen, and son-in-law Dale Elson.
