Two interlocal law enforcement agreements will allow for mutual aid between the Chadron
Police Department and other agencies. The council approved the agreements Monday at the request of Police Chief Rick Hickstein.

The first agreement with the Dawes County Sheriff has been in effect for several years, Hickstein said, but needed updated as it included the Crawford Police Department, which has
not existed for several years. The second interlocal agreement includes multiple agencies, both city and county, along Highway 20, as far away as Oโ€™Neill and Neligh. Hickstein said Chadron has not been a part of the interlocal for some time but believes it is time to rejoin the interlocal.

Both agreements allow Chadron police officers to leave their jurisdiction and have full law enforcement authority when they are requested by another agency for assistance.

โ€œItโ€™s good to have that cooperation,โ€ Hickstein said.

In other business, the city approved the sale of one of its lots on East Niobrara Avenue for $15,000 to Danielson Construction. That leaves just one lot remaining for the city to sell. The
council also approved the employment contract for new city clerk Katie Parks.
