Burial is at the Native American Church Cemetery in Porcupine, SD

Isaac Lee Lays Bad was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He was born on Dec 3, 1963 in Pine Ridge, SD, to Abraham Running Shield and Pauline (Spider) Lays Bad. Isaac made his journey to the Spirit World on Dec 26, 2023 at his home in Evergreen, SD.
Isaac had many talents, occupations and interests throughout his life. He graduated the 8th grade from Porcupine School and went on to graduate from Pine Ridge High School in 1982.
After graduation, he attended the Job Corps in Salt Lake City, UT, then returned to Porcupine to take courses at Oglala Lakota College, where he also played basketball for the OLC Bravehearts.
Isaac had several occupations over his life including working at the OST Housing Authority for several years, being a mentor for the OST Education Department, van driver for the Elderly Meals program, security at the Porcupine CAP Office, and a janitor at the Porcupine and Rockyford Schools.
When he started his job with the Housing Authority in the early 1990’s, Isaac met his spouse, Gloria Red Eagle. From this union came five children, all raised in Evergreen housing. He was a great provider and supported his children through everything.
Isaac was also a great athlete who instilled these talents into his children. His two favorite sports were baseball and basketball, and he was a member of the Pahin Sinte Redmen baseball team. His favorite pro teams teams were the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Denver Broncos throughout his life.
Isaac was also known for his artistic abilities. He made school logo signs and won several contests with his artwork. He was also a fluent Lakota speaker who won several Lakota Language speech contests.
Isaac was known to be very helpful, such as being a handyman, and willing to help his family, and friends in any way possible.
He always had a smile on his face when he was able to help someone. He was humorous and outgoing which made him approachable and a great friend.
Isaac had a love and passion for music and especially loved the 70’s, 80’s, country, and rock music, but he disliked rap. His love for music is still shown today by his children.
Isaac had many great qualities and attributes. He will be greatly missed by his children, family, and friends.
Isaac is survived by his daughters Justina Lays Bad and Chanda (Tyrell) Andrews; sons Bradley Lays Bad, Ryan (Phoenix) Lays Bad, and Jeremy Lays Bad; spouse Gloria Red Eagle; grandchildren Chaylee Blacksmith, Keira Lays Bad, Kalissa Lays Bad and Andre Andrews; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Isaac was preceded in death by his parents Abraham Running Shield and Pauline (Spider) Lays Bad; sister Olivia Lays Bad; brothers Eddie Lays Bad and Orville Running Shield; Hunka parents William & Geneva Richards; and grandmother Jessie Spider.
Pallbearers will be Andre Mills, Adrian Yellow Boy, Donnie Mesteth Sr, Preston Tuttle, Tyler Lone Elk, Jessy Lays Bad, Mark Richards, Sam Jr White Face, DJ Pourier, and Travis Richards.
