This is Art Day at Chadron State College, as the CSC Art Dept hosts some 80 students from 8 high schools around the region for a day of workshops and learning about art majors, minors, and courses at the school
Art Day begins at 8:30 in the Memorial Hall lobby with the day’s 3 workshop sessions starting at 9:00 and ending at 2:00.
The workshops will cover the topics of graphic design, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, photography, architecture, sculpture, painting, and graphic novel illustration. They will be led by a mix of CSC art students, faculty, and alumni.
There’s also a special session in the Sandoz Center for the high school art teachers with Chadron Chamber of Commerce Director Gabby Michna on Chadron’s Art Alley program.
Michna has been one of the driving forces behind Art Alley, a collaborative effort that has created a series of mural on the walls of downtown Chadron – primarily in the alley between Main and Chadron Ave from 1st St to 3rd St.
Six of the 8 high schools scheduled to attend Art Day are from the Panhandle – Bayard, Bridgeport, Chadron, Gordon-Rushville, Hemingford, and Mitchell. The other two are from South Dakota – Oelrichs and Phillips.
