Iva (Ivy) Pearl Avis was born May 18, 1946, to Rolland and Pearl Shoop in SD. She passed away Sat, Sept 16, 2023, at Gordon Memorial Hospital in Gordon, NE.
Ivy moved to Nebraska as a child with her family and went on to marry Clarence Avis on June 8, 1962, in Rushville, NE. To this union were born three children: the late LaRee Simants, Doug Avis of Scottsbluff, NE, and Kristy Avis of Rushville.
Ivy lived in Virginia while Clarence was in the service, but they returned to the Rushville/Gordon area in 1968. They also lived in Oshkosh for five years before returning to Rushville.
Throughout the years. Ivy worked at City Bakery, ran an in-home daycare both in Oshkosh and Rushville, and later ran the NebraskaLand Motel.
Ivy enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren; she was an amazing mother and grandmother as well as an amazing friend to everyone she met.
Ivy and Clarence were married for 53 years at the time he passed. The light of her life after losing Clarence was her granddaughter Miss Aubrey Danielle with whom she shared an amazing bond.
Ivy is survived by her son Doug; daughter Kristy; grandchildren Alisha, Colby, and Aubrey; sister Cindy (Scott) Kelley; brother Bob Shoop; special niece Michele; son-in-law Larry Simants; and several nieces and nephews.
Ivy was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, daughter LaRee, her parents, three brothers. and two sisters.
