Football practice at Chadron State College has gotten off to a good start, Head Coach Jay Long said Thursday afternoon after the Eagles had completed the fourth of their 21 sessions that are allowed before the season kicks off.
Long said there are 128 names on the roster. He added that all of the key players with eligibility remaining have returned from a year ago and said they have been joined by lots of promising transfers and freshmen.
“We’ll put a good product on the field,” the coach promised.
The Eagles will open the season by playing the Northern State Wolves at Aberdeen, South Dakota, on Thursday, Aug. 27 and then meet the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers in Chadron the following Thursday night, Sept. 3 before opening their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule.
