Janelle M. Whirlwind Horse-Bettelyoun, was born on May 28, 1986 in Gordon, NE to Paul Whirlwind Horse and Marjorie Broken Rope. Janelle made her journey to the Spirit World on July 20, 2024 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO.
Janelle was a humble, fun, outgoing, helpful, forgiving, great, loveable, and down to earth person. She made friends everywhere she went, she forgave everyone and put their differences aside. She made sure everyone was okay and happy. Jane was quite the character, she made everyone laugh, if it wasn’t her jokes it was her contagious laughter that everyone will remember. She loved to cook and was pretty good at it too. She was always more than happy to give it out to all her loved ones and friends. She was always listening to music and
dancing to it. She liked to joke around and have a good time with everyone. She loved and cherished all her nieces and nephews like they were her own. She treated her cousins like they were her sisters and brothers and always made sure they were okay. As many hearts she fixed and made, she broke many. Jane will forever be missed and will forever be remembered as the most beautiful, emotional, and loving mother, wife, best friend, and a good time girl. Jane will always be in our memories and our hearts, our Angel on earth and our Angel in heaven.
Janelle is survived by her wife, Delonnie Bettelyoun; son, Romeo Whirlwind Horse; mother, Marjorie “Rena” Broken Rope; sister, Anna Hunts Horse; brothers, John Whirlwind Horse and Reno Whirlwind Horse; nieces, Niasha, Sage, Lilly, Maggie, Adriana, Aliyah, Georgia, and Ariyah; nephews, Tristan, Jazzdin, Orion, Reno, Jr., and Tyrian; aunts, Nancy Broken Rope, Cheryl Hudelson, Julia Broken Rope, and Verna Sanchez; uncles, Carl Broken Rope, John Whirlwind Horse, and Mike Whirlwind Horse, Sr.; and special niece, Peyton Baker.
Janelle was preceded in death by her father, Paul Whirlwind Horse; sister, RaeLynne Whirlwind Horse; cousins, Moses Red Bear, Darren Red Bear, Lahoma Cortez, Alton Broken Rope, and Frank Red Bear; paternal grandparents, Raymond Whirlwind Horse, Sr. and Pearl Whirlwind Horse; maternal grandparents, Clarence William Broken Rope and Dora Trouble in Front; grandfather, Russell Whirlwind Horse; aunts, Pauline Whirlwind Horse, Susann Red Bear, Maria Whirlwind Horse, and Wanda Broken Rope; and uncle, Raymond Whirlwind Horse, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Whirlwind Horse, Aaron Red Bear, Tashina Garrett, Louis Sanchez II, Bryan Red Bear, Diamond Whirlwind Horse, Stormy Pourier, and Jonathon Baker.

A two night wake service for Janelle Whirlwind Horse-Bettelyoun will start at noon on Saturday July 27 at the Allen CAP Office in Allen, SD with evening services at 7.
Funeral Services are at 2 on Monday July 29 at the Allen CAP Office with Pastor Tim Wardell and FR. Ron Seminara officiating.
Burial is at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Allen.
