L-R: Joe Highhawk, Dustin Glass, Joe Fry

Chadron Street Department equipment operator Joe Highhawk is the 2022 Chadron City Employee of the Year, as voted by his fellow employees.

Highhawk was presented with the award at last night’s city council meeting.

The selection process sees 3 nominees placed on the ballot and this year all 3 were from the Street Department: Highhawk, fellow equipment operator Dustin Glass, and mechanic Joe Fry.

Joe Highhawk has worked for the city for about 7 years, starting as a part-time worker, leaving for a time, then returning to another part-time position before being hired full time.

Chadron Mayor George Klein says all 3 finalists are shining examples of the quality people who work for the city and their dedication to both their jobs and their community.

Three other Chadron employees were recognized last night for reaching service milestones, headlined by Building and Zoning Official Janet Johnson, who celebrated her 35th anniversary with the city in August.
